Never dealt with a natural disaster before? No worries!

I've updated my post about 72-hour kits and preparing for natural disasters.

This month has been absolutely feral and I've been offline for most of it. When I do post on social media it tends to be on Bluesky.

If you need me, hit me up over there or email me.

Hello, new followers!

I'm always happy to have you around but I do not auto-follow back. I follow people I interact with or who have something of interest to me (books, science, ect).

What part of "If someone in your household has a contagious disease you should stay home or wear a mask if you go out." is so complicated for people to understand? Are we unclear on how airborne diseases work? Do you not understand breathing? Where's the disconnect?

I pulled Youngest from an after-school activity this week when two kids showed up unmasked even though both their parents had COVID. The parents insisted the kids were fine...

... the group isn't meeting next week because everyone who stayed is not sick. Some sort of cold and fever situation.

@redenigma It's possible, but it needs to be planned out in advance and you need to be careful. There are groups that help with this.

You can write the best book in the world, love it to pieces, and do everything right and it can still take years for it to find a publisher. There is no magic formula that makes publishing quick or easy. It takes time to find an audience for your books.

Embrace the chaos of publishing.

@redenigma Because the same people whose spouses are like this are tracking their phones, controlling their bank accounts, and are statistically likely to kill them if they try to leave.

They cut women off from friends and family, limit their careers, control their money, and make it very, very difficult for them to safely leave.

Were trees meant to be furry?

Arinya was quite convinced they weren't. Flowing green fur was not what she expected to see on trees. It was like the grass had given up on living on the muddy ground and decided to live off the tree. A little piece of forest floor turned sideways.

Quick Reminder:

Following me and unfollowing me multiple times will not earn you a follow. I follow people I interact with regularly or who offer information and insight into things I value.

Currently I am using BlueSky more than the other social media websites. If you want to chat with me, please fine me there:

Me: Oh? Do you like your new jeans? Should we get more?

E: They're comfy, but I have to unbutton them to go to the bathroom.

Me: 0.o

E: *blushes* Normally I don't have to do that. Maybe they're too small?

Me: You are 22! What do you think the button was for???

E: Decoration?

Me: o.O

@Oma_Trisha @sazemisery The only parts I'll do through all the layers of the quilt will be the small stitches to tie the quilt. For my last quilt I used stars that appeared as 5-pointed stars on both sides.

It was in glow-in-the-dark thread on a quilt with fireflies embroidered on it.

The jelly roll comes in rainbow order, but I want the background to look more like a sunrise over a pond. I'm going to embroider/slowstitch on a giant dragonfly.

I've embroidered quilts before. The embroidery is the easy bit for me.

@PurpleDragon Yes, I'm doing a very simple version of this. I want a simple back because I'm hand embroidering on a large dragonfly.

I'm sending out a newsletter on Monday that will have a sneak peek of the hero's POV that is exclusively available in the special Kickstarter edition of ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A CRYPTID. If you like bisexuals, big foots, and grumpy/sunshine pairings you're going to love this book.

@sazemisery I want an easy quilt background so I can slowstitch and embroider a scene on the top. But I want a specific color gradient from the rainbow I've chosen.

For the question... a friend recommended this. It shows how to stack the jelly roll race quilt to pick the center colors.

Anyone here ? Or ?

I'm planning to make a Jelly Roll Race Quilt as the base for a slow-stitched piece of embroidery that will become a quilt. I ordered a rainbow jelly roll and I want to make sure the gradient goes through the rainbow. Suggestions or tutorials on how to do that?

I caught myself saying, "Mmm, no, we're having food from [That Country] for dinner so I need something else for lunch." and then I realized most people probably eat food from the same country/continent for most their meals. They don't try to vary breakfast, lunch, and dinner based on origin.
