Readers under 45 probably aren't super nostalgic for the the mid-1900's. Black women couldn't legally vote until 1965. Women couldn't have their own bank accounts until 1976. Employers could legally fire women for being pregnant until 1978.
No decent human being misses that.
@KamloopsBob Black women couldn't vote nationwide until 1965. There are still states in the union where you can't choose what happens to your uterus. Most doctors require a man's permission before a woman tries to have any surgery that would prevent pregnancy and some states take it further.
So I do appreciate your argument but it seems a little unhelpful when women in my country are still legal property of their state in some places.
