I'm not bribing my kids to make them do chores. I'm ensuring they understand they should be fairly compensated for their time and labor by paying them in Pokemon cards. There's a difference.
Pokemon cards work because I can get a box for 25,000won that has enough cards that the individual cards work out to 15cents/card. Five cards aren't much money, but they bring immeasurable joy and excitement. And it's what my kids want anyway.
The kids have regular family chores, like everyone else, that they do as part of helping the family. They also get a monthly spending allowance so they can practice shopping and budgeting. The Pokemon card chores are bonus chores that I could do but don't want to.

@LianaBrooks pretty much the same here. Son has regular chores he’s expected to do as part of the family. Anything he does outside that he is compensated for.

@LianaBrooks washing dishes is one job son won’t do. I’ve been washing dishes over 40 years and so sick of it. I’m praying for disposable cooking pots.

@LianaBrooks lmao he really really hates dishes. He will throw up the entire time he’s washing. He’s done them 4 times in 27 years.

@LianaBrooks sensory issues may be son’s problem, he’s autistic. I know paper towels almost make him run to the hills. Guy pal has actually made me do all the dishes before I was hospitalized lol.
