I saw pictures of Lake Lure earlier today. The failed dam has been the recipient of federal grant money, but I don’t know why it hasn’t been updated /repaired. If there’s a way the crooked NCGOP legislature could’ve fucked up the spending or allocation of those monies, I’m sure it did. Our mountain communities have been devastated by Helene.
N.C. is getting hammered folks. From the Piedmont to the mountains right now. Lots of friends without power in Linville area, Asheville area, and down here around Lake Norman too. My house still has power for now. Flooding on roads and blowing debris. Lions, and tigers, and bears. Oh my. 🤞🏻

I completed the draft of a poem yesterday and it felt like … something. My writing life has been a challenge in recent years. I mean, it’s always a challenge, but the passion for it started to feel more like a wound than a desire. I know why. For awhile I thought I was done. I hoped I wasn’t, but for the first time I just didn’t know. Sitting here right now, I don’t think I’m done. #CoSopoetry #CoSoWriting
