@Beanc
Wanna know how to do a double ring infiltrometer test?

@Kurtroedeger sorry I had to translate that into English h 😅

@Kurtroedeger I don’t think so? All I want is to know if it drained okay and the double hole method says yes?

@Beanc my yard is not well drained. It squishes like a sponge after a rain.
Squish squish squish

@Kurtroedeger yeah.

I think due to grading one end of my yard does that.

I need to figure out what I’m going to do there

@Beanc cranberries in the worst part and then blueberries around the perimeter

@Kurtroedeger oooh I do want blueberries. I was thinking front yard for those maybe not

@Beanc they are more forgiving for wetter areas. Not always soaked, but wetter they can handle. They care more about soil acidity

@Kurtroedeger so noted.

Not so sure about the weeping willow- the space is more hedge sized (4x30) and that would be BIIIIIIG

@Beanc @Kurtroedeger there are other native willows that like poorly drained soil, or you might try some Winterberry native hollies. they range from Canada to Texas on the eastern side of the country

@Beanc @Kurtroedeger Ilex verticillata. the Latin helps find the right plant... there are nativars (cultivated varieties) of it that can be quite spectacular in winter

Follow

@Beanc @redenigma I know you don't really post your location. But what hardiness zone are you in?

@Kurtroedeger @Beanc i was 5B, now i'm 6A. i didn't move, the climate did

@Kurtroedeger @Beanc i have a zone 7/8 microclimate spot with a huge southern native magnolia in it

@redenigma @Beanc they are gorgeous. It's not a southern magnolia, but I have one out my office window. It doesn't understand climate change and budded out this month, just before we got amour first snow 🤦‍♀️
Did that last year too. Then had poor spring blooms 😞
