I'm looking for a stupidly simple windows compatible video editor. Something I can splice together short videos into a longer movie, add some text effects, and music. Im not looking to spend adobe after effects kind of money. It's okay if it looks hokey and amateurish, I kind of want that.

@Kurtroedeger have you looked into davinci resolve? I think they still have a free version you can use.
@MgBarbatos @Kurtroedeger The built-in Photos app, and its precursor Photos Legacy (in the Windows store) both offer a video editor. The video editor in the Photos app is ClipChamp, which is also available as a standalone app from the Windows store.
Two other editors I use are OpenShot and ShotCut.
Even PowerPoint can produce videos.
Windows comes with Clipchamp. Super easy official Microsoft video editor.
