🤬 so Mom called a month ago and says her computer stopped working (she's 89 and 7 hours away)
So like a dummy I didn't grill her for more info and bought a new laptop on Amazon.
Yesterday my brain kicked in and I got the 411, it was just her internet had gone down 😠
And the return window closed 2 days ago... so anyone need a new laptop?

Oh lordy. I once had to diagnose AND walk-through my 80yo mom on how to get the battery out of the laptop after a thunderstorm took out the electricity and the stupid battery refused to charge after it.

I did tech support over the phone fresh out of high school.
The first time one of my superiors told me that yes, I did have to walk somebody's grandpa through resetting their CMOS using the jumpers... in a slimline desktop where you have to take everything else out first... I wanted to die a little bit.
Grandpa and I survived the ordeal, but neither of us enjoyed it.
