Very meh
It wants to be twice as cheesy as it actually came out.

@misslovelymess @Kurtroedeger

I totally do.

"Garbage ramen", instant ramen with an egg broken into it to poach in the hot soup and with a slice of American cheese laid on top and allowed to melt into the broth is an actual thing and it's GOOOOOD.

@misslovelymess
Once it all melts in it makes the broth creamier and it's one of the most common ramen 'hacks'

It just bumps it up a bit in yumminess.

@Kurtroedeger @misslovelymess

Can confirm. A slice of American cheese is a solid addition to a bowl of ramen, especially if it's the cheap stuff.

I wouldn't do it with my fancy Ichiran ramen, but Nissin or Maruchan? Absolutely!

@mcfate @misslovelymess

Cheap ramen is easy to dress up with a slice of cheese and some green onions. Or other fresh veg. I still have one serving of the pack of ichiran left, I should use it up. Weve been getting organic ramen noods from the Korean store (assi brand) and broths are just easy to make. I'm now at $0.30 ramen or just make it for real with a broth and not much in between.
I prefer a poached egg in it vs a soft boiled or sauna egg.
The Korean store fresh ramen is good.

@Kurtroedeger @mcfate I’ll never enjoy real ramen again, or cheap ramen, so I’ll take your word on the cheese boost. Gluten.

@damselfly59 I could certainly try it, and make myself, but I’m not great at broths. I still have Pho, which I love sooo much.

@mcfate @Kurtroedeger

@misslovelymess bone broth for you! Maybe some garlic thrown in and any left over veggies? I crock my broth cuz I am lazy @mcfate @Kurtroedeger

@damselfly59 I tried to make bone broth in the crockpot once, but it smelled so bad, I had to throw it out. Not sure what I did wrong.

@mcfate @Kurtroedeger

@misslovelymess @damselfly59 @Kurtroedeger

Bone broth is super-easy in the Instant Pot. I throw a leftover rotisserie chicken in there with a carrot, a celery end and a whole onion, with two quarts of water and a couple tablespoons of vinegar, and let it go for a day.

@mcfate @damselfly59 @misslovelymess

It's more the acidity breaking down the collagen which gives the broth a lot of body 🀀

Doesn't take much, and I usually go with rice wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar.

@mcfate @damselfly59 @misslovelymess collagen rich broth is supposed to be good for joint health.
Ox tail is awesome for making a broth like that.
It used to sometimes be thrown away after butchering a cow, now it's gotten kinda bougie. πŸ™„ Harder to find and costs more ☹️

Now I wish I had some 🀀🀀

@Kurtroedeger @mcfate @damselfly59 @misslovelymess
My Weis in town has them not regularly... And they cost... Can't remember how much...
Costco and Sam's also seem to carry them... Current listed price from Sam's is $8/lb....I don't shop at sam's...

@InvaderGzim @mcfate @damselfly59 @misslovelymess

I'll have to look for it at Costco sometime. But mostly I pester my local butcher. I'm the only guy regularly asking for things like oxtail, whole slabs of pork belly, and pig jowls

@misslovelymess @damselfly59 @mcfat I cheat sometimes on broth. Better than bullion is perfect for working up a quick simple broth. Add some fresh veg to it and off you go.
Or a miso broth is quick too.
Occasionally I'll take the time to make a big pot of broth and freeze portions. The all day simmer with lots of bones in it is 🀀🀀🀀🀀
:chefskiss:

@damselfly59 @mcfate @misslovelymess

Yes. I've seen rice noodle varieties!!!

We must get miss mess ramen!!!!

@Kurtroedeger Throw on some extra cheese on top to improve it? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

@Christmas_Snow
Gotta try it in original form first. But it's meh enough I'd go with another instant noodle type and just add cheese to that

@Kurtroedeger Oh, i thought you had tried it and the original comment was your 'review'.
But um, changing out the noodles and adding cheese is basically eating something altogether different... isn't it?! 🀭 πŸ™ƒ
