I just had to buy an external CD burner from staples to make a submission to a township.
Who TF still uses CD's. It's soooooooooo slow.
@MidnightRider I sitll get it for music. I still have music CD's.
But this is for data transfer.
I can't send them a dropbox link
I can't send them a USB drive
nope. Just CD.
@Kurtroedeger I get it, I honestly do. I don't have a printer, tell Progressive to mail the cards and they cheerfully do but they'd rather I use the phone. Well I understand that but I'm crossing into another country this summer and I'd rather hand over the paper copy if it comes up at all.
@MidnightRider and I'm not sure what kind of bloat and spamware comes with the Nero burning software, but apparently 650MB is not enough room to install. On installation it also tried to sneak in a bunch of stuff too that was hidden until you click a little drop down arrow to show all install options. I'm feeling salty about this today.
@Kurtroedeger Imagine how much worse that feels being old and constantly passed by emerging new technologies. Even the way computers work with cars has limited my ability to effect repairs.
@Kurtroedeger medical practices.
@Kurtroedeger If a large organization uses a technology, and that technology continues to be viable, they will continue using it until it ceases to be viable. Definition of viability may be stretched in either direction with a properly applied bribe.
@00pi even worse the township wrote it into their ordinance. by law I have to provide is part of my submission package 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
So until they update their ordinance, the technology will remain.
@Kurtroedeger They probably have a hoard of blanks, and will sell them at wildly inflated prices once they get a little harder to come by. They'll roll out an updated system only when they run out.
@Kurtroedeger I have a couple hundred, I love CD's, I'll be sad when the next car I buy has none, but hey I'm also old.
