I've spent some time today chatting with #ChatGPT.
It's been astonishing.
I've asked for recipes for air fryer snacks, talked about JSON vs XML, the pros and cons of both, smart home network configurations, the history of the Finnhorse, suggestions for a weekend trip to Stockholm, the Hard Problem of consciousness, the colour red, how ChatGPT experiences it, VIC-20 adventure game Pirate Cove, and world governments' hypothetical responses to discovering an advanced civilization in our galaxy.
@XaoslordErie Agreed, it's not Whittaker, it's the writing. I was rooting for her as the new Doctor.
I found Capaldi a bit disappointing, as well, and I _really_ was rooting for him. That stare was so cool -- I was hoping for a slightly edgier Doctor.
Too bad Eccleston decided to stay only for one season. I really liked Tennant and Smith, but they had mostly good scripts. Whittaker didn't, alas.
I had high hopes for Jodie Whittaker's Doctor Who, but it turned out terrible. It felt so different from what came before. Preachy, no sense of wonder. Like it was a different show entirely. Maybe it got better later, but I gave up on it.
Fingers crossed for Ncuti Gatwa. I hope the writers give him good material to work with!
I just started watching Doctor Who from the beginning of Christopher Eccleston's 9th Doctor episodes, and it just reminded me how great the series once was! #DoctorWho
@DarksideStraxus What a fucking travesty, the World Cup. Haven't watched a minute of it. Fuck #Qatar, and fuck #FIFA.
@Dogofalltrees Aye. The first one is a genuinely good, feel-good winter holiday movie.
(Critical Drinker has a good take on it:

The second one is a solid runner-up.
As for the rest, one should forget that they exist and never speak of them again.
Spent four hours removing snow off the roof. 60 cm of the bastard all over our annoyingly large roof (when you have to do this crap).
I'm feeling it today, let me tell ya.
But we came to our "summer" house for the weekend. The sauna is all warmed up. Going to warm up my aching muscles.
An adult beverage or a few will be involved this evening, as well.
@AbelUndercity That would have been the dog’s bollocks!

#Röyksopp has a few tunes that I really enjoy. They use synths in a way that is both modern and also harkens back to the 80s.
Hadn’t heard this one before. A simple tune, with a great synth driven melody.

@AnnBF That is exactly my expectation as well. It clearly has utility, but there’s always the initial feeling of novelty.
Bought an air fryer yesterday (Philips Avance Collection XXL) on a recommendation of a friend. I always thought of them as those gadgets that you buy, use for a week and then stow away in a dark place never to be seen again, until you sell them for a thruppence at a garage sale five to ten years later.
I may have been proven wrong. Initial tests over a couple of days have been very encouraging.
Tests will continue over the next several days, but I’m surprised.
So, are all #WoW nerds like me excited about #Dragonflight launch tomorrow?
Because I am! Can’t wait for the experience, exploring new places, learning about the new lore!
It’ll be amazing!

@Mastodon70 @DarksideStraxus Snap! Posted the same thing! 😎
@DarksideStraxus Aye. Or the Dungeons & Dragons satanic panic before that, in the 80s.
@TXPamInOH It’s a worthy series — well written and well enough acted — and interesting as it is. But it’s definitely not one to lift one’s spirits.
