Been in a dark place all day, mad about all the awful hateful people in the world making things worse
What makes you happy? Do you have something that is a go to to lift your spirits and feel better? LMK
Flowers are my second source of "instant happiness." They dissolve all darkness for me. Flowers connect me to life... and seasons, cycles that can be counted on and are green, growing things.
My first source of "instant happiness" are my cats. I am a proud Crazy Cat Lady and my cats never let me down. They also depend on me- so I can't dwell in darkness for too long- because they surround me with fur & purrs.
My doges. I literally seek them out for a little impromptu pet therapy when needed.
I like silly pix of innocent things, like field mice.
I love 60s-70s music. Motown & flower child stuff, when dancing was foreplay & the world seemed a hopeful place.
I love ant lions & science about tardigrades.
I like nature. In almost any form.
I live to see Dudamel conduct something passionate. That man knows empathy & attunement & whimsy.
And certain classical music selections.
@Kinnison Mainly root beer does it for me, but...
Listening to music and shutting off social media helps tremendously. Sometimes you have to close out the noise to help your own computer upstairs work better.
Honestly, one of the best things (for me, at least) is trying to make the world a little bit better. On MASH, when Dr. Hunnicutt was asked if he was trying to change the world, he said, "No, just our little corner of it." Little acts of good to counteract the darkness are the best.
@Kinnison I started looking for good things and saw someone who'd tripped on a curb. Four people came to his rescue.
I saw a woman calling an ambulance for the man who was unconscious on the sidewalk.
There was the man who handed a To Go food container to a homeless man sitting on the sidewalk.
Look for the humanity that remains.
@Kinnison For me there are two things - getting away from the computer and the TV and surrounding myself with natural things. If I can't actually get away from the city, I just go in the back yard, play with the dogs, look at plants, find a bug and follow it around. The other thing is doing something creative - drawing, writing, building something.
It's a lot now. But there are a lot of good people in the world still. It's just hard to see them when you're being bombarded with negative stuff.❤️
@Kinnison My dogs and cats make me happy.
