I don't think the Biden administration is getting enough credit for the way they called out Putin's plans in advance. Not only did they gain credibility with international allies by being upfront and direct but they also took away any of the flimsy pretexts for war that Putin was hoping to lean on. Who knew that honesty from the US government would work so well?

It doesn't really matter because the purpose of the statement is a call to arms to justify the next better-planned coup.

If a seditious mob can have even a thin pretext of moral justification there are no limits to the violence and death they will be willing to perpetrate once whipped into a 'moral' 'patriotic' frenzy.
