Security is a relative thing.
What are you going to do ?
For every day internet use, any major distribution of Linux, will be more secure that any other operating system.

That said: again Security is a relative.

So more detail might be needed.

I am not a gamer.

But as I understand the threats, these come mostly from the game you are running, its servers, and the people running these servers. Also the people you are playing with.

These threats are present no matter what operating system you are using.

Yet .... In general Linux, will patch, sooner, and more frequently than other systems. So if you can, and you have a choice, run the game under Linux.
