A massive downside of #consulting remotely is that, as people rarely turn on their video (tech sorts are often allergic to video, I've found), it's very hard to get a read on the audience.
"Questions, comments, thoughts, concerns?"
Silence.
"Is this making sense to everyone?"
Silence.
"Alright, I'll assume silence means you're all good. Let's move on..."
When I was presenting in person, I could read the audience and adapt delivery, which was much more fun (and effective). #ConsultantLife
Apparently classic antisemitic beliefs are back in vogue in 2022, per a survey by the ADL. :(
This is particularly bad because the people who hold those beliefs also tend to hold similarly negative beliefs about other groups.

THEY KNEW AND STILL DID NOTHING
Study says Exxon knew “precisely” about global warming. Exxon’s internal climate research, which began as early as the 1970s, accurately predicted both the speed and gravity of global warming, according to a new study that analyzed dozens of research papers produced by the company’s in-house scientists.

Between 63% and 83% of Exxon-backed research accurately predicted ensuing climate events and global warming, matching and occasionally even surpassing the accuracy of academic and government projections. Although Exxon dismissed the study’s findings, lead author Geoffrey Supran summarized them as “airtight” and “unimpeachable” in an email to Axios.

Everything’s wrong,
Days are too long,
Sunshine’s too hot,
Wind is too strong.
Clouds are too fluffy,
Grass is too green,
Ground is too dusty,
Sheets are too clean.
Stars are too twinkly,
Moon is too high,
Water’s too drippy,
Sand is too dry.
Rocks are too heavy,
Feathers too light,
Kids are too noisy,
Shoes are too tight.
Folks are too happy,
Singin’ their songs.
Why can’t they see it?
Everything’s wrong!
Under UK law, if a company decides to cut more than 100 jobs, there must be a consultation period of at least 45 days between those employees “at risk” and the company before any redundancies can be made — during which those affected are able to gather information on the proposed cuts and potentially negotiate terms

Twitter API outage
Twitter may be killing off third-party clients. These clients generally do not bring any ad revenue for the platform, something that Musk has made clear is a priority in his tenure so far. Just this week a report from The Information revealed desperate measures to keep ad buyers on board, and many Twitter users have noted major increases in the number of ads and frequency of ads seen on the platform
all 3rd party apps are affected
I don't trust media articles that say "a new report says" and don't link to the report << nagl
