@Dogofalltrees it's probably a little of column A and B tbh. the US' private healthcare system is untrustworthy enough that i wouldn't put incentives to misdiagnose people past them
@Dogofalltrees it can be really hard to tell sometimes. like when i started seeking treatment for my severe social anxiety, i had a psych that was quick to get me on a SSRI, which didn't appear to be making a difference. but my anxiety got much better over time regardless, so i kept taking them. a few years later i have to see a new GP and he immediately wants me to take something else that is contraindicated with it, and likely could have killed me if i took them both together
@JillyRabbit holy s**t. Yeah, that’s crazy, I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I ended up with an excellent physician, and she’s super good at her job too. But then again, I have a BA and an MA in Psychology… so, I think I knew what to look for in a good physician when it came to ADHD.
@JillyRabbit ok, that’s understandable. But… the counterpoint to that is… isn’t it super hard to get diagnosed? 🤔 To the best of my (understandably shaky) understanding, only a Psychiatrist can diagnose you with something like ADHD, and it’s super hard to get in to see one. Right? 🤔 So, how can it be super hard to see an actual psychiatrist… but have the disorder be over-diagnosed?
