Librarians create fake library card to save thousands of books.
There's nothing more sacred to a librarian than a library card. But when a town in Florida decided to burn all the books that hadn't been taken out in a while, local librarians made a fake card for one Chuck Finley. Chuck, who doesn't exist, checked out 2,361 books to keep them from being Fahrenheit 451'd.
@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine I had to quit taking in all the books from libraries. I could easily fill my house. We need a better plan.
@Jezibaba Then comes the sale.. Oh. When we send out the notice, besides homeschoolers and bookstores/campstores sites we send notices to prisons and the staff there can request titles/subjects also. We ship those free. Finally after the sale anything left gets donated to artists who make book art or just recycled.
@Jezibaba But yes. Its a BIG job and there are TONS of donations. It's a LOT of work but we have lots of volunteers.
@Jezibaba Here they have some rare book collectors and bookshop owners that assess the donations and overflows with the provision that they get first pic. They sort through. Assess buy what they want, then pull the good stuff and it goes for sale on Amazon through the library, then there is a general sale, flyers get sent out all over the state to stores and homeschool and we ship. For instance certain themes are wanted by stores up north that cater to cabins, hunting books, romances, western.
