"Do you know how bad it has to be for them to charge FIVE cops with murder BEFORE the public has seen the video?"
@Jezibaba Somebody needs to give law enforcement as a whole a Ted talk. "Gentlemen and ladies, it may have escaped your notice, but you aren't the guys in the white hats anymore. Black people have know that for over a century and a half, and white people are finally cracking wise since the GOP militarized you after 9/11. You have your own, very obvious, agenda, and 'Protect and Serve' ain't it."
@TwiHusband this. Sadly this.
@TwiHusband @Jezibaba I don't think a talk is gonna do it. We need federal police reform with teeth to clean the system up. We need funds allocated to social work and de-escalation.
My husband and I were saying the same. Within that section of the NYT, it seems the TBI & spox are priming everyone for what's about to be revealed. The quotes from the TBI head are harrowing.
I won't be able to watch the video either.
@ExecutiveFunction404 this is truly screwed up
It's nice they finally took police brutality seriously. Not really surprised by the stark contrast behind the reasoning.
Many states are preparing for tomorrow. It's dreadful foreshadowing of what's to be released. The video is being likened to the LAPD beating of Rodney King 🤬
@Jezibaba I hate it, but I'm just gonna say it. Do we feel like the bar was lowered for consequences because all of the cops involved are black? Cuz I do.
@Ironworker229 that's what I'm thinking the consensus may be.
@Jezibaba If you're saying they're afraid of the public outcry, good. Derek Chauvin changed everything.
Tyre Nichols, in his final words, called out for his mother. Our hearts are broken for this loss and for his family. Justice must be served!
Who was Tyre Nichols?
