80's I had two small children, and as a stay at home dad, got hit with a huge amount of shit in public.

"Where is their mom, let me tell you how to deal with that." As I deal with a small tantrum. We would go to the park, and I would be the only adult male around. "Did your wife die? I am so sorry, let me help you."

All the way to "I am calling the police, are those your children?"

My wife was doing her residency at the local hospital.
