Everyone's talking about what this election taught the Republicans and Trump. But what lessons are democrats and progressives taking away? What were we taught?

@Jeber I learned that they're more aggressively Republican and Democrats need to be more aggressively Democratic in response, however I'm not the flag waving, false prophet loving type. But they have group think on their side.

@Jeber
That there's a lot of work to do; particularly on the latinx vote front and maintaining voter turnout.
Locally there's a lot that needs to be done to cull misinformation and such.

Basically, the Dems can't be complacent; This one was too close.

@KAutumnrain
You're right, too close. If we can't fix that in the next 2 years then shame on us.

@Jeber

The main thing I'm concerned about is getting people to vote more consistently. I know my friend group and I are getting more involved politically, but there's only so much we can do to get people out there.
Conservatives vote in every election they possibly can. No reason we can't, either.

@Jeber
My takeaways:
- Polls. Are. Busted.
- Keep perspective on major news network. Watch for the news if needed, if you watch at all. Get opinion/analysis from independent sources and/or sources you trust (recommend @MeidasTouch so hard!)
- F the polls. Just freaking vote!
- Challenge the status quo. The incumbent party doesn't always get worked in the midterms.
- F anything that suggests voting would be pointless. Vote vote vote!

@Jeber What I've learned is that Democrats are poor campaigners.

It's as if they want to lose.

@Jeber What we need to learn is that we can't rely on whipping up people's fears/concerns forever. If we want to stop having this "vote for the bare minimum to save ourselves" fight, we need to address the reasons fascism becomes appealing.

Those reasons aren't mysterious, nor are they nebulous "lack of education" or whatever. They're well-documented and can be addressed with governance.

I doubt Dems have learned this, but we need to.

@Jeber I think the Dems who focused on long term issues such as Climate Change, Democracy and Personal Freedom fared better than those who focused on temp issues like inflation and crime. It motivated young voters to SHOW UP and have their voices heard.

@Jeber Democrats should of learned fear manipulates voters, gerrymandering can create majorities where none should exist, bigotry is alive & breeding, and education of the populous creates logical voters. Corporate America sponsoring the dumbing down of American citizens leads to illogical fear manipulation. Time to reverse the satisfaction with an 7th grade reading level for Americans
