The Supreme Court lifted a stay of execution last night by a 6–3 vote, allowing Alabama to kill Kenneth Smith. But state officials badly botched the execution and failed to end Smith's life. They will likely try again soon.

Alabama has botched another execution attempt. After repeated failed attempts to set an IV line, ADOC has called off the execution of Kenneth Smith. This is the state’s third failed execution since February 2018 and fourth in that period with significant IV problems.
