Why can I sometimes connect to Counter Social via my VPN and sometimes not (I get the banned IP page)? It's NordVPN, and as far as I can tell I'm almost always using a server in the CONUS, if not specifically Dallas, Texas. The basic FAQs seem to say both that "certain" VPNs are blocked and that "all" VPNs are blocked, depending on where you are looking. And there doesn't appear to be a list of prohibited VPNs (countries, yes) but maybe that is my Google-fu being weak.
A list of VPNs of VPN IP addresses would only be helpful to attackers.
If you feel the need to use a VPN to get here, I guess you take your chances.
@mcfate Once ISPs were allowed to sell user information I was under the impression the VPNs were now considered Good Internet Practice.
I do get that given CS's goals, location spoofing via VPN could be an issue, but their info is clearly of two minds.
Well, I'm not sure what kind of advice you're looking for. It may work sometimes, but I certainly wouldn't rely on it.
I'm not too concerned about Spectrum selling someone the fact that I'm visiting Counter Social, I don't think it's worth much.
I use a VPN if there's a reason to, but not if I don't, it only slows things down.
@mcfate I'd like to know WTF the rules actually are, to start. For example, today I am here while connected to the VPN. No problems at all. And like other people, I like using a VPN because I'm tired of being the product. I can't avoid it all the time, but I've no intention of making it easy for ISPs. I pay for my connection, after all.
Counter Social is not a party to any fights you're having with your ISP. That's entirely between you and them.
"Do not support" means that if it happened to work at some point and then stops, no one's going to do anything to make it work for you again.
Does this help? If the documentation says one thing, and the implementation does another, the implementation wins.

As far as I know, the "rules" are that we don't support the use of VPNs to access the site; if it happens to work, it's a fluke, and you shouldn't rely on it.
