#psychology *Note: this includes us. A lot of us have behaviors that saved us during times of danger, and we drag them along with us into our present where they are dysfunctional. It is not always the metaphorical “them.”Sometimes it’s us. Don’t be afraid to take a deep dive on your own actions and behaviors.

In all honesty, we have way too many people on this planet, in order to have a sustainable world.
If we cannot do something to stabilize population growth, this is looking very bad for the future.
Of course, if we don’t do something about global warming there won’t be a future for the things that live on the surface of the earth or maybe in the ocean either.
Quite honestly, most people don’t seem to care.
There is no planet B.

Nothing much has changed, has it?
#writers Today the leaders for Open Door Writing Group meet at my place.
Yesterday I made two kinds of desserts for snacks.
Then I found out no one would have the time to eat before they got here.
Celtic hospitality home here. If I know I am having guests and they'll need to eat, there's a lot of food. No one leaves hungry.
They're not expecting a guest cup, so there won't be that.
Yeah, so there's now a full spread plus homemade desserts to take home.
Last night while researching my daughter's father's side of the family I stumbled over a few days old obituary for one of his sisters.
I was the one who told my daughter when I was notified he died. Last night I notified her that one of his sisters died.
Fortunately, they had minimal contact so it wasn't a huge shock.
This is what sometimes happens to people who do genealogy.
@J_Windrow sorry for the belated response, haven’t been on in a few days! But yeah I agree, it’s a flow or don’t thing, although there’s a few characters where I get into a groove in their storyline when I really start to pick up with them
#humor. Old but still funny
#law
I was stunned when a friend told me she was advised by a legal referral service in Texas that she could not represent herself in a civil action regarding family law issues.
Granted, people are better represented by counsel (in general) but telling people who cannot afford to hire an attorney that they can't even FILE a case without one is horrific.
I'm no longer in practice. I can't give advice. Nonetheless, I went on 6th Amendment rant.
I went to the store to get a couple of things.
And then... next month we'll have a holiday party Open Door Writers
Our founder just came back from Europe with massive amounts of swag for everyone.
During October, several members celebrated The Great American Candy Festival with gift bags.
The store had all sorts of gift bags, candy bits and bobs, etc.
So... I won't have to prepare for the holiday baking now. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. 💰💰💰
PSA to the newer folks:
CoSo is created and maintained by ONE PERSON
and the financial gap for operating costs comes from HIS wallet. 👀
That's why you are seeing posts about financial support.
HEAPS of dollars to keep this place running through this growth phase.
I have my blanket, I have my toy, I will not be cold tonight. I am sleeping with mom.
#genealogy I'm the family historian. My sister is interested but didn't know how to do what I do. Nor was she on the site I use (Family Search).
Today I said, "Let's link you up."
The first thing that happened was crossed wires that created an indexing mess where she absconded with someone else's ancestor. 😜
After half an hour on the phone with the help desk we restored the other family's ancestor to them.
And 🎉 she's now linked to all the info going back to the 1100s.
Success!
Been listening to "Diary of a DA" by Herbert J. Stern. What a career. Good audiobook.
I had to laugh at the parts about how great a law school is about teaching you to think in a specific way but once you get out, you know zip about practice.
In Canada, you have to do a one year internship with an established attorney before you go into practice. I almost moved there and had a friend in practice who would have taken me under his wing.
