This might be slightly controversial, but I would much rather conservatives flood bookshelves with right-wing propaganda for children than try to pull "woke" books off of those shelves in schools and libraries.
Censorship is bad. Free speech is good.
Considering how many left-leaning activists, especially POC and queer people, are starting to arm themselves for their own protection, we might actually see right-wingers advocating for stricter gun restrictions. 😕
Hey, remember when conservatism was about cutting taxes and government spending and not about advocating genocide against trans people?
In all seriousness, the real reason why Americans don't protest more like Europeans is because we Americans lack solidarity.
If one half of America protests something, the other half with counter-protest--and not even out of principle, but more out of partisan spite.
If one half of Americans rally for clean air, the other half with modify their exhaust pipes to release more toxic fumes into the air just to "own the libs."
"Why don't Americans protest more like Europeans?"
Well, if that isn't a Monkey Paw wish. You all say that--until another Jan. 6 happens!
You want Jan. 6 to happen again? Because that's how you make Jan. 6 happen again!
So I've been thinking about a certain quote lately. I don't know the proper quotation, but I'll paraphrase it thusly:
"You can sit on a person and not think anything about them, but they will always be thinking about you."
I think the main gist is that you can harm another person and not even remember them, but they will always keep you and the harm you inflicted on them on their mind.
Anyone know of the full, proper quote? 🤔
So this past week, I’ve been editing audio for an upcoming podcast, editing video essays for my YouTube channel, preparing to publish my next book, planning on attending a huge writer’s event, and all while juggling my day job as a freelance journalist. How’s everyone else doing?
I am not going to cheer that Mitch McConnell has been hospitalized from a concussion after a fall. I'm also not going to shed a tear if he ends up dying from his injuries.
To quote Clarence Darrow (often misattributed to Mark Twain): "I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure.”
A political pundit openly declared at a major political convention that transgender people should be eradicated.
But, sure, Jan. Let's pretend that a wizard game is the biggest threat facing the trans community.
And this is coming from a person who openly reputed She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and who has no intention of playing the wizard game.
Can we please just stop talking about the wizard game and talk about issues that actually matter? Like open declarations for genocide?
Look, I'm going to be honest here. As much as I don't care for GOP/MAGA stuff, I'm not a big fan of Democrats either.
Like, I do not need to see the umpteenth Occupy Democrats meme self-congratulating themselves for hating Trump and Republicans.
It's like seeing people acting smarmy because they know how to tie their shoes or spell your own name properly.
You ain't special because you can do basic stuff.
So...can anyone else predict verbatim what kind of comments will appear in the comment section of an article or video before you even read it or watch it?
Is it a sixth sense? Or is it just too many people repeating the same empty buzzwords and thought-terminating cliches in a knee-jerk response to the same topics?
I'm starting to think the internet and social media has been a net negative to overall discourse.
Kidding. I always knew that!

Nobody believes in subjective morality, not even people who proport to believe in subjective morality.
Nobody would want to live in a society where people are "free" to decide their own "morals." Because that would not be a society. That would be total anarchy.
Change my mind.
"If no set of moral ideas were truer or better than any other there would be no sense in preferring civilized morality to savage morality or Christian morality to Nazi morality." - C.S. Lewis
On an unrelated note, here's a banger that I recently recovered from the darker recesses of my brain. I remember watching this movie a lot as a kid. Pity few people know about it or even like it.
