"Nobody's obliged to be nice to you."

Okay, so let me get this straight: I have to walk on egg shells just to avoid offending people and their personal sensibilities, and I'm forced to kowtow to them if I mildly inconvenience them in any way, but they are not obliged to show me a base level of human respect and decency in return?

And people wonder why autistic folks like myself have major issues with neurotypicals.

The more I comb social media, the more I'm convinced that a disturbing majority of people not only lack empathy, but consider lacking empathy a virtue. I just don't even.

See, most people who claim "there's no evidence for..." know there is evidence for it. They know there is reason for it. And they know there is logic for it.

They know that. They are well aware of that. They know that. You know that.

What they want to do is waste your time "debating" something that has already been proven to be true.

Don't waste your time with bad faith arguments.

"You don't have any evidence for what you beleive."

Ah, a sealion AND a gaslighter, too!

See, telling people they don't have any proof for what they beleive is clear bait. You know people are going to respond by providing proof and reasoning, which you will then promptly ignore through mental gymnastics.

No, I don't have an interest entertaining bad faith arguments. If you really have a good faith interest in proof, then educate yourself.

"Excuse me, good sir, but do you have proof for..."

Yes. Yes, I do. No, I'm not interested in sharing it with you because you're evidently requesting it in bad faith.

If you truly cared about proof, you could easily learn about it yourself with a simple Google search rather than bothering random people on social media about it.

Don't be a sealion.

Oh boy! I'm sure that comment is going to get some angry replies. Some people seriously think raising children in "values neutral" schools seem to be a good idea.

It never ceases to amaze me that some folks are more offended by public schools displaying moral edicts like "do not kill" or "do not commit adultery" than they are by public schools being filled with mass shooters and pregnant teen mothers.

You'd assume they might connect the dots with all that, but, sadly, they most likely attended public schools themselves, so thinking about things not on the test wasn't something they were taught. 🤷‍♂️

Beleive it or not, you DON'T have to butt into every conversation and offer your opinion on every matter. You can simply curate your feed and only engage with people who think like you. You can mute conversations and words and block people. Use that privilege.

I couldn't care less if you beleive in God or not. That's your right. That's not my business.

But when you come on my feed and reply to one of my tweets calling God a "sky daddy" and averring that you're smart than me because you beleive in "logic, reason, and evidence" (implying that belief in God lacks all that), you make that my business.

If my belief bothers you, hit the block button. You'll be doing both of us a favor.

At worst, they were people with too much money on their hands and too much hubris in their own abilities to do such a thing. Not really the worst people in the world.

For the record, I am not above reveling in the suffering of other people, but those people better damn well deserve their suffering.

Donald Trump. Ron DeSantis. Andrew Tate. All of them reprehensible people who have done reprehensible things who deserve to face the consequences of their actions.

But, I'm sorry, five people (one a 19-year-old kid) dying in a homemade submarine miles under the ocean? Not in the same boat--quite literally.

Five people are dead because of a freak accident--an accident that was completley avoidable, but an accident nonetheless.

One of them was 19-years-old!

If you think these people "deserved to die", congrats, you're not a nice person.

"Where's your empathy for the poor billionaires? LOL!"

Do you assume people are only deserving of empathy based upon the amount of money in their bank account?

If you do, empathy is something you completley lack.

You know, I assumed CounterSocial would be different from other social media accounts, that it would be free of trolls and other undesirable cretins.

I was wrong.

Gonna be honest: between Russia devolving into civil war and trolls mocking the unfortunate deaths of people trapped in a sub miles under the ocean, I'm strongly convinced I live on a planet of sociopaths.

Like, I find the overall lack of empathy on this planet disturbing

I don't get into arguments with other people. Other people simply disagree vehemently with my opinions and place me on the defensive in order for me to stand by those opinions. In short, other people get into arguments with me.

TL;DR: Being good is not the same as being nice; and you cannot be tolerant of intolerance.

"Gee, for someone who claims to be a Christian, you're not acting very nice. How very un-Christian of you. Didn't Christ say you need to be super nice, loving, and tolerant of everybody?!?"
