We Puerto Ricans have ancestry that is Spaniard, Taino, and African (some French, Portuguese, and Arabic) and the one least spoken of is the African one.

Our music, food, religions, and even our sense of style comes very strongly from the Africans who came to Puerto Rico, some as slaves, some as free people looking for a good life.

To my fellow Liberals and to those of you who call yourselves Progressives.

Why is it okay to protect thieves and other criminals from legal action? Why do Progressives, in particular, seem to feel it is okay to put in place laws that allow shoplifting, purse snatching, etc.?

Am I the only one who thinks this is very misguided?

Shouldn't the law-abiding citizens of any state feel safe and that their government will catch and prosecute those who would prey on them?

We don't all mature at the same rate psychologically. If the person you're with seems immature to you, leave and find someone who is at the same maturity level as you. You will be doing neither one of you any favors by trying to force them to mature to your level. In fact, you may be damaging them psychologically just to meet your standards, and wouldn't that be the ultimate in selfish?
