Humans have a tendency to stick with their own. This is an ancient instinct allowing people to form groups to keep themselves safe.

But that is not racism, children do not see a different skin color and turn away in fear, racism is taught. If you expose your kids to different people, show them who they can or cannot trust without regard to race, that is how they will live their lives.

Our instincts to prefer the familiar should not be an excuse to teach your kids bigotry.
