The problem, IMO, was and still is that people along the way didn't want at all to do the work of amending and changing things but rather re-interpreting and re-re-interpreting and reversing and unreversing and so forth all the laws on the books and in the Contsitution. I'm going to play devil's advocate here for a minute. I sympathize with these people and I am sorry they are going through such hell right now. They give good advice. Make sure you have documentation that you own the property, and if the deeds were never put in your name, you have to do that right now before disaster strikes. Same with vehicles or anything else as appropriate. Protect documents from fire.
