I remember when my Naval Service Record was issued to me on microfiche when I got off active duty. Couldn't get it before that, but I could go to Personnel and view it any time. I no longer have my copy, but it is still available in the same format - for a pretty shiny penny.
Microfische is still around. And, from an archival standpoint, still outrunning digital storage media for lifespan. Still a nightmare tho. 😬
Back in “ye olden daze”…
We had to go to the town library or the university for microfiche…
