I feel like I've had a particularly bad year, especially the last couple of months. Some of that is my perfectionism talking, & some of it is that no, I actually have been sucking the past couple of months: forgetting things, unable to focus, making errors & not dealing with shit very well.

I'd like to see annual reviews done away with entirely, & feedback be continuous throughout the year.

Where I work, your annual cost of living increase is tied to how well you do on your annual review. That's some rank-ass bullshit right there.

I'm about to have my annual review.

I f'ing LOATHE annual reviews. I'd rather eat glass.

OK, dinner & chill time. Hang in there, y'all.

Countering their idiocy is a reason for the rest of us to make sure we & all our cohorts vote, too. Every time, without exception.

VOTE, mothafuckas!

I don't think it serves us to forget that there absolutely SCADS of total bigoted idiots out there, & they vote their beliefs just like anyone might.

People are objectively terrible. It doesn't surprise me at all that some of them voted for Walker. Of course they did.

I'm seeing a lot of folks mystified that anybody in GA voted for Walker at all. Have we so quickly forgotten that 63,000,000 people voted for a washed-up narcissistic orange failure just a few years ago?

I hear/read that GA polls are closing.

Fingers crossed...

@elbutterfield Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman comes to mind, possibly.

@elbutterfield Who, these days, had an adventurous life from an early age, became a skilled warrior, was/is a brave & principled person serving multiple leaders, faithful & loving to their spouse, generally thought of as pretty awesome by the standards of the day?

I'm honestly not sure. I'll have to think about that one.

@elbutterfield Hmm... that's a really good question.

In some ways, there couldn't be an equivalent: we don't have the same system of feudalism & system of knightly chivalry that they had then, & I'm not sure what a modern analog to that would be.

Most of European royalty are descended from him, same with many of the noble families of the Brit Isles... & hell, a lot of just average people with English ancestry.

So yeah Marshall had one helluva career.

They hung out with guys who had names like Ranulf & Guy & Gilbert & were nicknamed 'Strongbow' & shit like that.

So that should give you a sense of the time.

He didn't get married until he was 43, when he wed the 17-year-old Isabel de Clare, daughter of the Earl of Pembroke. They had 10 kids & by all contemporary accounts, the marriage was a happy one. Together they were something of a power couple, navigating politics through a number of conflicts & reigns.

Dude managed to put up with 5 Plantagenet monarchs over the course of his career, & didn't get executed by any of them for treason or disloyalty, even when they all fought one another.
