It's kind of like...

Them: Your mom just did this totally random senseless thing! WTF?

Me: ...uh, yeah? That happens all the time.

Them: Well yeah but she does/did *this*! <insert incredulity here>

Me: The fuck do you think dementia *is*??

It's weird to me when someone remarks on one of my mom's dementia-related behaviors & they act amazed.

I mean, I think it isn't an act, I think it actually *does* amaze them, I'm just puzzled as to why.

Annnnnnd the track changed, & now I'm being attacked by bandits. So I got that going for me.

It's funny how much of the work sounds like scifi & fantasy TV series music from the mid-90s.

I swear to bog I heard some riffs in there that were straight from ST:TNG.

& I feel like there's this gut-level *sensing* at the back of my throat as the music plays, & it'd remind me of whatever it was I was doing at the time I used to play, if only the note could hang long enough or move slowly enough...

Having this weird feeling/experience where the music seems like I've never heard any of it before, but I know all of it, it's all as familiar as a lullaby someone sang you when you were a little kid.

Just popped in Jeremy Soule's soundtrack for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I haven't played it in an ice age & it's dredging up sooooo many memories. Not just gameplay, but also things like where my headspace was at the time & what my life was like.

On day... I'm not sure what day of vacation & watching old Spike & Mike's cartoon festival DVDs.

An observation: I would hate to be Don Hertzfeldt's therapist.

@kismatt Aw man. That's rough, I'm so sorry. :( I haven't dreamed about little Peanut yet, but I still have his photos on my phone & see them a lot. It's the worst when you realize that there isn't a little furry body there to pet & snuggle. I hope your memories give you joy soon.

@kismatt I feel you. Lost mine in January & miss him too. It's so hard. <3

@peterquirk If you're going to DIY, that's the way to go. Some years ago a yellowjacket randomly flew into an open sliding glass door & stung my niece, who was minding her own business. My parents suited up, found the hive, & took out the entire thing. Some serious Godfather action right there - you don't mess w/the family, LOL!

@peterquirk Yowza, that's quite the nest! The bald-faced hornets' nest I had looked like that. I had that one removed; I still don't know where the yellowjackets are nesting tho'. It's driving me bonkers.

@singlemaltgirl Yeah maybe they're just having a good year, I guess. I had a nest of bald-faced hornets in my driveway too - healthy respect for yellowjackets, but them bald-faced guys can piss right off.

We always have *some* every summer, & coexist respectfully with them bc they're beneficial insects; but this season, it seems like there's been a lot more of them. Sitting out on the deck we got dozens coming around, & there are quite a few inside the house as well. I've looked for a nest (nests?) with no luck so far.

This has nothing to do with anything, but have the yellowjackets in anyone's area been more numerous this year? I'm seeing a bazillion of 'em for some reason.

I'm working on my mom's bio for the memory care place she'll be moving into. Plan to pass it along to my dad & sis when I'm done, so they can add their own thoughts & memories.

@insomniacviolin Ugh I hear you about mental health care. I've pretty much given up on finding a therapist despite needing one. I can't afford it even with the policy I have, which is way better than most.

@MidnightRider Oh, no, I totally believe you & didn't think you were joking at all!
