So we helped each other get through that loss. This time, there's no pup to care for anymore, & no pup to return the care.
@rpardee Thank you. I find myself wishing there was a dog here for comfort & then I remember I really want my *old* dogs & I'm nowhere near ready for even comforts from another dog yet.
@Impious_Jade ach, yes--been there. It will pass I bet, but until then--ouch. :(
@Impious_Jade @rpardee 1) So sorry for your loss - it is truly heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet, no matter how old they are. What they give is immeasurable. We have 2 dogs and 3 cats presently, and have suffered the loss of too many to list.
@FinnegansWhacked Thank you. A few weeks' worth of time have softened the edges a bit, but I still miss him something awful. It never really gets easier.
@Impious_Jade No it doesn't.
@Impious_Jade I've been there & every one told me: Now don't go & get another dog, live a little! Living a little for me meant not leaving the house because what was the damn point of a walking without a dog? Find a friend to walk with you I was told. But friends don't want to fetch sticks when I throw them, or splash in a puddle and make me laugh, or poke their nose in my thighs to get attention. I have no friends who will warn me of real danger a head in the woods or give me unconditional love
@Impious_Jade After about a 1/2 year completely dog less I told husband I had to get a dog or I would sitt in my sofa & have a heart attack. His choice! We didn't want a puppy we finally found Jimmy a lurcher rescue who needed a home. It was love at first sight. A year after I had to take in my son's dog a Pugh/Russell a clown. Son had got a new girlfriend who was allergic. A year after that a nother lurchers came my way. Adorable Harry the sweetest most gentle dog ever. And I never felt better
@Lingitta That's so awesome. Dogs are the best. At some point I'll probably adopt again, when I'm ready for it.
@Impious_Jade ach, that is rough. Condolences.
