I just spent six days with my sister and her husband, who is a devout Christian and the kindest man any of us know. If they were all like him I'd convert right now, crazy doctrine be damned.

Part II: we spent so much time on the taxiway we had to go back to the gate for more fuel. No lie.
Last time I spent this much time between boarding & takeoff was in Taiwan after a hurricane. This just rain. In Seattle. I.e., business as usual.

TFW when you have a flight to catch at 11 and you live 1-2 hours from the airport --maybe more if some lunatic highjacks a semi and rolls it on the freeway -- and you have to drop the car at long-term and check baggage and clear security and it's raining so you get up way early and bust ass to reach the airport by 9 -- and at 9:15 you're done and have nothing to do but wait.
I know, it's a good thing. Nothing to complain about.

Finally figured out that when the cold weather arrives there's no waste in heating the oven to make one loaf of bread -- just takes a little load off the furnace! Makes it easier to experiment. Last week's was a brick, so sad; but yesterday's is a winner.

When TFG finally accepts that he's going down, he'll repent. It'll be the biggest repentance in history, believe me. He'll set up a foundation to fight toxic and divisive politics. And that'll be his new grift.

Our own small bit of election good news: it looks like our incumbent sheriff, a perfect model of the corrupt but invulnerable petty tyrant, is getting tossed out on his ear. In my experience, that NEVER happens (and I hope I'm not jinxing it now) -- sheriffs seem to be made of duranium covered with reinforced concrete and Teflon. But maybe not this sheriff, this time.

Props to @status for dealing with those DoS attacks. I used to be a network engineer, fortunately never had to deal with anything like that, but holy cow it wouldn't be much fun. You want anyone to be able to reach your site from anywhere -- but there's a whole bunch of anyones you have to block, without blocking anyone else. And they come and go like shapeshifting mosquitoes. Thanks!

Praying that Michael Moore is right about next Tuesday. If there's a red wave I think I'll have to figure out a way to get my family out of the country. A few of us might be able to get into Canada or somewhere but a fair number are too old or medically sketchy to for most countries' immigration rules.
