Years ago a friend told me she liked to put the turkey carcass (mostly bones) out for wildlife. DO NOT DO THAT. Cooked bones splinter easily and will cause internal damage to the critters who eat them. Put them in the trash. (Not compost)

If you happen to plan ahead for this, you could debone the bird before you cook it, and then put the raw bones/carcass out for the wild animals. But once the bones are cooked, they get brittle and break into long sharp points when gnawed on.

@CJLavoie I learned the same thing from a friend after I have a roasted turkey leg to my dog as a special treat. Poor dog only had like 2 minutes to chew on it and as soon as I went to take it he growlee all like "you AINT taking THIS from ME!"

Yeah dog learned fast, never growl at daddy! :) he gave it up!
