i dislike the term adulting.

like when did that become something to strive for? i was adulting since i was a kid. doing stuff because either i should or because i was told to, and sometimes i have some time for myself to not worry about that stuff for a little bit. isn't this just living? πŸ€”

Using the term Adulting, is a way of compartmentalizing what you HAVE to do, and what you truly WANT to do. Without that compartmentalization, do you really know your own passions well enough to spot them when opportunity arises?

Like, what do you do because it's good for you or puts food on the table, and what do you do because your Soul YEARNS for it?
And how would you know the difference if you don't have a word for it?

Just looking out for ya Bro. I mean, we can find a better word if you like, but I feel we DO need one.

i think the english language for my years of deference should accommodate my request and deny the introduction into our vocabulary.

so it has been written, so let it be done.

πŸ€” What word should we use then?

It's like "Moist". People hate it, but there isn't really an equivalent concept.

@Heucuva8

ordained responsibility that comes with living in a 'civilized' world.

i like the term living, can we go with that? πŸ€—

Sadly, no. Because "Living" shouldn't require the burdens we shoulder everyday, just to obtain the financial means to safety and security.

And because I define Living by the things I WANT to do. Not responsibilities.

"Life is in the living, not the striving to live."

Moist adulting πŸ€”

How many followers will I lose if change that out for Gravy Sack

@BlackRabbit @Kurtroedeger @Heucuva8

We all stan word plays in CoSo.

And I don't like adulting either. But it is shorter than "bearing the duties and responsibilities in a subservient and mature manner"

@Fiikus_goddess @Kurtroedeger @Heucuva8

it's the subservience to maturity i think i have issue with.

this is right up with those who don't like change because it came.

you can complain that the sun will rise tomorrow, dagnabbit... i know i sure do, but it will rise..

@BlackRabbit @Kurtroedeger @Heucuva8

Some subservient behaviour is unavoidable.
Like dishes and laundry. I hate doing them. But eating (safely) and clothes are kinda musts in life, and I am not rich enough to hire someone to do them for me. And doing those sort of things with a certain humility, as well as systemic duties (taxes, not killing annoying people before morning coffee etc) is what defines the "adulting" for me.

Work, I find, usually is not so much a case of "adulting",but fun(ish)?
