I’m glad I stocked up on these mosquito “dunks” before “Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight” approached with this unrelenting rain. They’re a great way to suppress mosquito larvae in standing water, nontoxic for wildlife (including fish) and pets. A college biology professor told us that one of every 26 people on Earth dies of a mosquito borne illness. That was early 1970s. I suspect that the number is higher now due to despite insect control and vaccination (and loss of wetlands.)
