I came out to my husbands family on this day, seven years ago. It was a bit of a hiccup-y experience, scary for the first few months, but the years that followed had only gotten better and better as my MIL started to learn more about the transgender experience as well as my polyam/pansexual experiences too. That's not to say everyone accepts the whole package of me being me. But I gave my sister in law the courage to come out as pan herself. #LGBTQ
For a long while, MIL referred to me with It as my pronouns, and I sort of went with it because I knew that she was learning and adjusting. Now she refers to me as they them, it took her a while to get used to it, but she's been a giant supportive figure in my life and I have her to thank for building up my courage to keep being my authentic self. #LGBTQ
