It's exhausting being #transgender in the US. Every day another state works to block gender affirming care for trans youth. Many have proposals in committees to ban rights and gender affirming care for all trans people. Some are actively pushing to reverse gender marker and name changes, making whatever appears on the ORIGINAL birth certificate immutable. Some are looking to ban whatever they consider "cross gender presentation". All of which punishable by law.

I have been called names and treated with contempt. I have been (mildly) harassed by police. I've been misgendered by medical professionals even after correction. I have been followed around stores. Mothers have pulled their children away in fear previously reserved for Frankenstein's monster. Living in the South, I feel it's inevitable that a physical attack will someday occur. This is my experience and it PALES in comparison to many others who have it worse.
