I was today years old when someone pointed out that the banana is no longer the food that most closely resembles the telephone. You know what is? The Pop-Tart!

@Zevon It will be more like living topside in Fallout

@Zevon problem with tearing it all down is that these fuckers have no interest in rebuilding. It's like asking the Greeks to rebuild Troy after that little trick with the wooden horse

There are five key areas that authoritarians want to control when they attempt to decapitate a democratic state, authoritarian expert and author Timothy Snyder writes: health, law, administration, defense and intelligence.

@Lucky188 all part of that sparkling psy-op I mentioned.

This is what we live with. This is why the voters want anti-establishment/outsider candidates. This is why the Dems, perceived/labeled as insider elites lost, in spite of all the good that the Biden administration achieved. Now, the GOP somehow operating simultaneously as flunkies of the oligarchs yet positioning themselves as outsiders is a psy-op that would have made any KGB or CIA spook jealous.

@tgraph52 i loved his boldness and his humility. It's an odd combination. He challenges institutions and our assumptions while never acting like he knows more than his guests who are experts in their fields.

@tgraph52 oops, you were talking about the other video. That one was great, too. I really like the way she framed the issue as one that simply requires a more inclusive approach, esp the part about how DEI needs to focus on financial struggles. You can have many of the benefits of white privilege and still spend your life struggling

@tgraph52 HCR is brilliant. I try to keep up with her daily columns and I've read a couple of her books. She has a way of breaking things down to their essentials that is often enlightening
