@LianaBrooks i'd like that. As it is, I'm working til at leastt 67. My wife will probably keep workng til 70 and beyond. Who know how much longer either of us can actually do tthis shit?
@LianaBrooks @GlennS Tell that to Congress, who keep moving the goalposts. Retirement age keeps going up while threats to social security and Medicare get bandied about. Meanwhile, pensions are vanishingly rare. And heaven forbid one needs assisted living or memory care, which means many will die in poverty. People aren't working as greeters at Walmart in their eighties because they think it's fun.
@Notokay @LianaBrooks long term care is my greatest worry. It's what affected my parents the most.
@GlennS @LianaBrooks Yep.
@GlennS Both my parents worked into their 70's. My grandpa was 90 and still going into the city planning office a couple times a week "just to help out". Meemaw is 91 and volunteers because she's bored and can't get hired anywhere. And it's fine if it's a choice, but it needs to be a choice, not a necessity.
Asking people to work from age 5 until death is not healthy for anyone.
