@Tattoomonkey29 @LnzyHou @Annothername @elbutterfield Up until she died, my mother decorated for Xmas. She loved it. Not a bunch of lights on the house, more little geegaws and chotchkies inside the house.
She died September 6th,1995.
I still got a present from her that year. She'd pick up little things throughout the year.

Others may be decorating for the bit of comfort it offers them. I'll admit I do like to see them. Not the huge, over-the-top light displays where the blinking is synced with the music, but the less ostentatious displays.
They strike me as a hope or a wish for an ideal. Peace on earth, blah, blah, blah.
They are pretty to look at. I haven't bothered to decorate for years. 2007? 08? Maybe? I still buy some gifts, though.

Just saw my first Christmas tree in someone's home on my evening walk. Pumpkins are still out in the front. It's a transitional time. Didn't expect it so soon. I have a feeling people are doing whatever it takes to feel better right now.

Pete Hegseth was removed as one of the security details for Pres. Biden's inauguration as was deemed an extremist because of a cross tattoo on his arm that was identified with Crusaders who fought with Moslems in the Middle Ages. His anti-Moslem sentiment is clear when he wrote in his book: “Just like the Christian crusaders who pushed back the Muslim hordes in the twelfth century, American Crusaders will need to muster the same courage against Islamists today,”

I don't know why I'm up. Been awake for a while, couldn't get back to sleep. Decided to get up and dressed, and turn the darn heat up. Chilly in here.

George Bell, 72, pastor at Anchor Baptist Church in Columbus, has been charged with 4 counts of rape and 2 counts of gross sexual imposition with the alleged crimes reportedly happening between 2021 and 2024. According to the indictment, the victim was under the age of 10.
