Just saw my first Christmas tree in someone's home on my evening walk. Pumpkins are still out in the front. It's a transitional time. Didn't expect it so soon. I have a feeling people are doing whatever it takes to feel better right now.

@elbutterfield Some might be putting up Xmas stuff in celebration *sigh*

Others may be decorating for the bit of comfort it offers them. I'll admit I do like to see them. Not the huge, over-the-top light displays where the blinking is synced with the music, but the less ostentatious displays.

They strike me as a hope or a wish for an ideal. Peace on earth, blah, blah, blah.

They are pretty to look at. I haven't bothered to decorate for years. 2007? 08? Maybe? I still buy some gifts, though.

@GeezerWench I appreciate the warm light that comes from all the multi-colored twinkle lights. When they come down in January I really notice a difference in interior lighting. It seems so much more harsh and cold.

@elbutterfield Ya know, you could leave some up. Because you're the boss of you AND an adult and can do what you want.
