I just heard that UPS may go on strike at the end of the month. So I thought I would put together a watch2gether film festival. But first I need to find the free films. I'm going to make a list here (assuming I can figure out how to chain these together. First up: 10,000 Black Men Named George:

Twitter is still good for some things (at least for a bit)...

@heatherdale Here is the website of the festival itself, which has been going on since 2016.

I believe this is only on Shudder (and AMC+), but if you get a chance, check out Etheria Film Fest 2023. It's a collection of short horror films by female directors. All of it is excellent but about half is outstanding.

I just discovered this band Hawktail today. I'm pretty sure I've seen them play with people like Caitlin Canty and Sarah Jarosz and that's why they were offered to me. (Been on a bit of a roots music kick recently.)

@CLManussier @peeppeepcircus I agree with all this. And based on his takeover of Twitter, there may have been people around to help him. But he would just drive them away. Certainly he is even more deluded about his brilliance than the media is.

@peeppeepcircus @CLManussier Could be! But Elon Musk always makes me think of the line from Deep Throat in All the President's Men, "Forget the myths the media has created about the White House. The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand..." I think he's ruthless but not bright.

This is a good article about the current state of Twitter. It's behind a paywall, but you can read it all if you turn off JavaScript. (I run Opera for this purpose.)

@Ostacia_Vye Ouch! But also: cool!

Sorry. I don't have a clue about fixing...

Good article (for a change) from The New York Times on how the right uses the rhetoric of free speech to engage in stochastic terrorism at the University of Chicago.

@AskTheDevil Another problem is that we (I definitely include myself) are way too forgiving...
