@Florence It shouldn’t be like this. I’m a Brit, been in USA since the eighties. I remember the power cuts of the seventies. Eating dinner by candlelight. I hope something changes and it gets better.
@Florence I hope you can get what you need! Thank God my insurance will pay for it in US if I ever need it!
I do, too. In just a few days I've noticed how reactionary it is over there, and how careful I am to phrase anything. It feels safer to have a bit of personality here. I haven't found one toxic conversation as-yet. Let's hope it stays that way.
Over there is the place to keep up with industry news. Here is the place to BE a person with thoughts and feelings.
Musk destroying Twitter might be the medicine we never knew we needed!
I had a recent helping you with your money assessment by my bank. They suggested I miss meals in order to save money.
Joke is, I'm on parenteral nutrition due to #cancer!
But honestly, that's what they suggesed, 'eat less'.
Doh!
In my last few toots, I"ve been talking about the #CostOfLiving price rises in the UK which are totally unamangeable for many of us, including me.
I'm not doing a 'poor me' thing, honestly, I'm just trying to explain to those who don't 'get' it how very real they are and how they affect so many of us so negatively.
The poor always pay more I guess is the mantra.
None of this (the cost of living charges) is helped by the fact that my bedroom wall had to be rebuilt last year due to leaks everywhere. But now I have black mould on the walls so can no longer sleep in there, have to sleep on the couch in the front room.
This is not how I envisaged the end of my life! No heating, constant power cuts, and damp!
Oh well.
Again in the UK, we also have planned power cuts due in January, 4 - 7pm (not sure how many days per week yet) due to the horrific mismanagement by the Tory Government, this is to 'save energy'. Therefore, I've had to get a small camping stove etc. But there will be no lighting, no heating, nothing, during that time. I have an emergency medical alarm which also will not work. It's just a farce. (I bought a tiny generator in case batteries fail on the alarm.
In the UK, my quarterly power bill in the winter is normally around £350/£400. Due to the hike in prices, my estimated bill for this quarter is going to be £1200. I literally can't pay that. Therefore, no heating for me!
It really is ridiculous how many of us are in this situation.
Mine too! 🚫👍
@Florence I love the different vibe here! I'm still on twitter (to have fun blocking advertisers as much as anything, plus there are people I respect and follow) but I am spending increasingly more time here, focussing on the positive!
If you are done with Twitter, I get it. If you are still on Twitter because of contacts you've made, people you follow, or you are looking for a way to fight back, I get it. I'm hoping we don't devolve into an argument over how to deal with Twitter; it would be rather ironic. Let's focus on the positivity of being here!
After a too exciting moment, these doggos are ready for adoption

It's me. I'm the problem. I'm that person your mother warned you about! 'We all do well when we all do well' (Wellstone) #BLM #VoteBlue #Democracy #Cancer
