Sorry about this toot, just need to offload!

My cachexia has now officially been diagnosed as refractory cachexia (meaning the treatments are no longer working). I have no heat in minus temps as it's too expensive, and my home is ridiculously damp. We also have regular power cuts upcoming thanks to Tory mismanagement.

I foresaw a lot of possibilities for my end of life care, but this was not one of them. In the dark, freezing, and damp!

Oh well. C'est la vie.

🤷‍♀️

@Florence Damn, that is so tough. Sending hugs your way. I drink hot water to warm up when it seems impossible. 🤗 💔 ❤️

@Florence

I am sorry to learn that you are contending with so much at once 💜 😔

@Minholkin Thank you. xx I'm sure there are many others in similar circumstances. It just makes me so mad about the fuel bills, tripled, because no one can afford them, let alone those of us not working. And The government simply do not care. It's inhumane.

@Florence

It is inhumane. And while there are many others, my heart hurts for you extra as someone I see and appreciate.

@Minholkin That's a really nice thing to say, thank you. Life is what it is, I am old enough to know that, and remain grateful that I have a home, which so many don't. xx

@Florence

Bless you for your focus on gratitude--many folks would struggle to find it <3

@Minholkin It helps to quantify things sometimes, especially when everything seems awful. Then you suddenly realise that in the grand scheme of things you're incredibly lucky to live somewhere with great health care and lots of caring folk around you. Somehow this helps. xx

@Florence

Your perspective and grace is a gift to the rest of us 💜

@Florence

I am sorry the government there is not stepping in to help you as it should. I do not know if it helps to know that I care about you and this horrid way you are being treated...neglected actually...but please, know that I do care.

@AndersonArtwork The Goverment iniitially gave us some (a small amount) of money towards the fuel bills, but THEN refused to put up sickness benefits in line with inflation - they are now 10% below inflation for first time ever. So they took the money back essentially. Food is almost tripled in price too. Fortunately the cachexia means I'm barely able to eat, but it's just ridiculous. All of it.

But thankyou, it DOES help to know that others care and so thank you so much. xx

@Florence

Far too often...the governments humans come up with cater to the wealthy rather than ask the wealthy to help those with less.

So they become myopic to the true existential conditions of those in need while they magnify the wants of those doing the best

Needs should never be negotiable while unfulfilled & wants should always be fulfilled last.
