Puerto Rico: reports are that 80 to 90% of the main island has power about 3 weeks after a category 1 hurricane. Government response is slow.

FEMA funds meant for disaster relief after Maria 5 years ago have been disbursed at a glacial pace, with only $40 million used in the last five years, out of more than $13 billion allocated to the island post-Maria.

Góod morning 'nauts.
Coffee soaking in the press.
Yesterday I picked up a Santana 21 sailboat ⛵ for...$free! Parts of a little rough, but looks like it'll float. So my buddy and I are headed to the lake today for her inaugural sail after shutting it up to make sure all the parts and pieces worked. Need to replace all the sheets and lines. They're old and weathered,, but sails are fine and it it looks like it'll sail. Woo-hoo!

Good morning all, my CoSo friends and newcomers to our little party. Say hello! Jump in anywhere. We are friendly folk with furry feet. We live in holes in the side of hills. Many of us are good people I suppose.

Just scheduled my appointment for a booster shot in an hour. Time to shower and head crosstown.

I woke early and have been laying here scrolling coso and have just realized that nobody's bringing me my until I get up and make it - rats.

Morning all.
I guess it's time to get 'er done.

Florida people you are so fscked. My heart goes out to you. Last week in Puerto Rico was bad, but was nothing like you are facing in terms of size and storm surge. Cat1 vs max Cat4. It's a monster. Be safe, not stupid, and take care of each other!

Oy vey. Home to the mainland again. Power still off in PR. Feeling dirty, may take a hot shower. First in months. 😆

Day 5 post Fiona. Household water began to flow a couple days ago, full pressure yesterday. Still no power. Intermittent but improving cell svc. Lost an avocado tree at my friend's - these are maybe 1/3 of the recovery. A gigantic ficus tipped over onto another friend's house. I cleared the limbs from stairs for access, then the ones leaning on the roof. Created a shady bower underneath and it should be fine. Forgot pictures. Long gas lines. Need to add the last 4x4 braces to the pergola today.☕

If you got any questions, ask away, response is liable to be delayed.

The odd thing is everybody's taking it in stride. They're used to this kind of thing. They've been treated like crap for 500 years by the Spanish and the Americans.

They're helping each other out. I'm doing what I can to support my neighbors. Sharing coffee, meals, and battery power for phones. Stores are open that have generators. And cash is king. Very little cell-service. Have been able to text but no data.

Evening all. Looks I have got 5G connection briefly so wanted to connect after a few days of being out of touch due to hurricane Fiona. The entire island of Puerto Rico is without electricity. Perhaps 100,000 customers have been reconnected. Trees are down everywhere. Mudslides are severe because of previous rains. Residents are saying it's worse than Maria. There's no electricity and there's no clean water in pipes anywhere on the island.

Other than that, how's your day been?

Fiona; In the midnight hour, hurricane status, SW Puerto Rico: calm still to light breezes. Occ short, light, showers. On hurricane watch under the new pergola, finished today. Weed, wine, and wind on order.

It's a beautiful night and Fiona is taking her time getting here.
