The largest slaughterhouses in the US have two things in common: 1) They all run ads in Mexico promising jobs in the US 2) They all give millions and millions of dollars to Republican politicians.
Republican politicians routinely oppose all immigration reform on the basis that it “isn’t tough enough” — when their real goal is to keep the border open to cheap labor for the slaughterhouses and other corporate giants.

Meanwhile, they keep winning elections by convincing unwitting voters that they’re “for tough immigration laws.” They insist on nonsense measures such as a 1900 mile long border fence, because they know that it will take years to build, make millions for their cronies, and, ultimately, won’t keep anyone out (as the picture shows).
60% of migrant workers say that they’d like to go back home if they could do so without having to sneak back and forth across the border to work.

The bracero program operated from 1942 to 1964, was an agreement between the U.S. and Mexican governments that brought millions of Mexican workers to the U.S. for temporary agricultural labor. We could do that again and if not - we could charge and arrest the people who employ undocumented immigrants, cutting off the attraction to come.

@FireMonkey the fines for using undocumented laborers are barely a slap on the wrist for the corps that use them, & the management isn't affected at all. they should be getting heavy fines & jail time if they really wanted to stop it
