I've never done this before and no one warned me how bad the aged plumbers putty would reek.
It works! It's so much quieter than the old one I thought it was stalling. Everything seems to be draining correctly. I'm looking forward to not doing that again for another 10 years at least!

Your picture crop leaves me slightly concerned. Because I can't see how the drain is from there originally. And while it might work, it might also not be premium. Like, is there a P-trap? Can you post another picture with the complete drainage setup? Just trying to be helpful. Not critical.

Ah, that's fine. Perspective in the first picture and the lack of seeing the plumbing let me imagine bad things. Is there a second wall drain in the 1st new install pic? If not, just weird perspective. All good and congratulations!

That was what made me double-take -- I triied to vision the route from disposal to that drain and it wasn't adding up. Carry on! 🛠️
@FireMonkey I set it up the same way the previous disposal. Not sure how much can be seen here but I'd already put everything back in the cabinet.
