Guess I'm a kid too - found I didn't shut the freezer compartment door all the way, and this morning the fridge was grinding away trying to keep it cold. Most things half thawed, and the compartment frosted over. Just now dumped goods into cooler and shut off freezer for a bit. /sigh :^/

I seem to remember once upon a time fridge door hinges were designed to slowly swing closed if not held open.
Maybe that was before they were trying to sell IoT refrigerators that text you when the door is left open.
