Shop-vac/blower motor behaved intermittently for months. Finally stopped working. So of course I disassembled it completely (#NewSkills) looking for the fault. Cord looked in #1 condition, but after cutting it open, here's the culprit. While disassembling, of course I screwed up the threads on the main spindle taking it apart and had to grind it down and carefully recut the threads. Now to attach a new plug and reassemble it.
