Strange New World's Captain Pike reminds me so much of Kirk's mannerisms - I was confused.

Lt. Kirk comes aboard at the end of the first episode, looking nothing like our good ol' J. Tiberius Kirk.

I'm going to be bummed that eventually Pike will go away and this other guy will play Kirk.

@FireMonkey nice! Hasn't realized it was available to watch yet

@Anton
I just ran into it last night and apparently it's on YouTube and it's on Pluto.

@Digitalpariah
Yes I missed that last night as I nearly drifted into sleep watching the close of the show.

@FireMonkey Sam Kirk was James' brother. They are taking liberties with this show, but they want the Enterprise wrought with familiarity. The ship is beautiful.

@Mfieck
Oh, was that Lt. Sam Kirk with the porn star mustache, and not JTK? Gotta go pull up that scene again.

@FireMonkey I think Anson Mount's Pike is distinct from the other captains. He seems to carry the chair with less weight and more humor. For some reason, I thought that was Captain Kirk's father... maybe I missed something. If it is, yeah, I can see how discombobulating that can be.

@JCole @FireMonkey Thanks!!

I see they cast Paul-Wesley for Kirk...

I am exactly fond of that. I know they need to attract a younger audience but he is strongly associated with a YA drama that, for a mature dedicated fan, just won't be believable in a new role. They should have cast a lesser known actor but I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

@_Ms_J

TBH I don't really keep up with that stuff unless they really make an impression with a performance. He's a complete unknown to me.

@FireMonkey

Yeah I'm one of the least caring or detail-oriented "star" follower out there, but this much I noticed. And yeah, I don't know who the guy is either.
